Audio Operator

Keep session timing, upcoming PowerPoint media cues and wireless microphone status together in one dedicated view.

For C⁴ Clock 5.77.164. Requires Pro. Reviewed 24 October 2026.

Open the Audio view

  1. Run C⁴ Clock Pro on the clock PC.
  2. Click AUDIO in the main status bar to open the Audio Operator page.
  3. For another laptop, tablet or phone on the show LAN, use the clock PC’s web address with the path /audio. Keep the host and port from the address opened by C⁴; use the clock PC’s LAN IP rather than localhost on another device.

The page shows the session countdown, run sheet, slide information and available PowerPoint audio/video cues. Source, slide and media information requires a compatible PowerPoint add-in.

LAN viewing is not receiver administration. Configure receivers using Audio Setup locally on the clock PC. Do not expose the clock’s LAN web server to the public internet.

Set up supported receivers on the clock PC

Supported Shure receivers: ULXD4, ULXD4D and ULXD4Q only. Do not assume other Shure models or Sennheiser receivers are supported.

  1. Connect the receiver network and clock PC to the appropriate show LAN.
  2. Open Audio Setup locally on the clock PC.
  3. Select the correct network interface (NIC) for discovery, or enter the receiver’s IPv4 address manually.
  4. Check that the expected receiver channels appear, then label the microphones and hide unused radios as needed.

C⁴ reads receiver telemetry. It does not mix audio, change radio settings or remotely configure receiver hardware. C⁴ labels are display labels; changing them does not rename or reconfigure the receiver.

Label and assign the microphones

Use readable C⁴ labels and assign microphones to presenters or individual panelists in the run sheet. Lectern and Other can also be selected where appropriate. Hide unused radios so the operator sees the channels relevant to the show.

ACTIVE tags identify microphones assigned to the current presenter or panelists. They are schedule/assignment indicators, not a mixing-console fader, mute or on-air state.

Save edits made in the main UI. Audio polls for saved changes each second. If a microphone field is currently being edited in the Audio page, incoming updates for that field wait until it loses focus, so polling does not overwrite an in-progress edit.

Read battery, RF and level status

Telemetry depends on the connected hardware and available data.
IndicatorMeaning
BatteryLow battery warnings are orange; critical warnings are red. A percentage, AA battery bars or remaining runtime is shown only when the receiver reports that information. Do not assume an exact runtime for AA batteries.
RF / signalAvailable receiver signal telemetry helps spot weak or lost links. Missing telemetry is not a guaranteed good signal.
Audio / PowerPoint metersMeters represent available receiver or PowerPoint process telemetry, not mixing-console output. They may be unavailable; do not treat an absent meter as proof of silence.
Disconnected channelThe card fades to 25% opacity and shows a red disconnected status. Previously displayed values must not be treated as current readings.

Acknowledge warnings and review history

Use the Audio page’s acknowledgement control to clear that page’s warning display. Acknowledging Audio does not clear Showcaller or main-window warnings. Each surface has its own acknowledgement state.

The colour-coded Alert History lets you review alerts rather than relying only on the current banner. Showcaller has its own browser-local notification switches and history; see the Showcaller warning guide.

Practise without receiver hardware

Audio Setup offers three mixed simulation sets with 8, 10 or 12 radios. Simulated battery readings remain fixed while RF/audio levels move. These are demonstration values, not live receiver measurements or a battery-discharge test.

Check whether a simulation is selected before treating the view as live show telemetry.

If something is missing

  • No Audio page: confirm Pro is active and open AUDIO from the main status bar.
  • Another device cannot connect: check the clock PC’s LAN IP and web port, network isolation and firewall permissions. Keep the firewall enabled.
  • No receivers: check the supported model, IPv4/network settings and selected NIC in Audio Setup on the clock PC.
  • No slide/media cues: check the compatible add-in, selected PPT source and its connection.
  • Assignments look old: save main UI edits and allow the next poll. Finish editing or leave the focused mic field to accept deferred updates.
