C⁴ Clock / Operator workflow

Catch the deck problem before the presenter does.

“That’s not the right font.” It’s an uncomfortable way to start rehearsal—especially when you’ve never seen the deck on the presenter’s own laptop. Check what PowerPoint is bringing to the show PC before they walk up.

Find the missing font—and the slide to check

A supplied presentation may open and still look different on the show machine. As the operator, you cannot infer every intended typeface from the result on your screen.

The C⁴ PowerPoint add-in’s font report lists detected missing font names and their reported slide locations. That gives you a specific place to look and something concrete to discuss with the presenter or content team, before they notice a change during rehearsal.

  1. Open the supplied deck on the actual show PC. Font availability can differ between machines. Check a backup PC separately if it will also play the deck.
  2. Open the C⁴ tab and its Preflight report. Review the FONTS section, including the font names and any reported slide numbers.
  3. Check the affected slides. Ask for the intended font or a corrected deck. Install fonts only where you have permission and according to the show PC’s IT policy.
  4. Refresh Scan after changes. Review the new report and rehearse the result with the presenter.

Embedded fonts are reported separately and may have editing restrictions; the report does not count recognised embedded fonts as missing. If a finding has no slide number, treat it as a report to investigate—not a reason to guess where it appears.

Why is this deck advancing on its own?

Saved automatic timings can arrive with the presentation. On a live conference, a deck moving to the next slide without the presenter pressing anything is a different kind of surprise.

C⁴’s preflight summary reports Use slide timings: On/Off and whether saved automatic slide timings were detected. Review the combination: timings present in a file and timings enabled for the slideshow are separate facts.

If automatic advance is intentional, rehearse it. If it isn’t, review the deck’s timing settings with the presenter, then rescan and test it on the show PC. Reading or copying the C⁴ report does not change those settings or save the presentation for you.

Bring the findings to speaker prep

Copy summary copies the complete report, including setup warnings, slide timings, media, links and font findings. It gives the prep team a written list to work through rather than relying on memory or opening each slide at random.

The add-in can be used as a standalone preparation tool. Pre-show and live warning displays in the connected C⁴ Clock application require Pro or an active Pro trial. Check the Free vs Pro comparison.

A check, not a visual approval

A font scan cannot tell you that every slide matches the presenter’s intended design. It flags detectable issues and helps locate them. Confirm the appearance, media playback and slide behaviour in rehearsal; a report with no missing-font findings is not a guarantee of an identical-looking deck.
